About Archives
The Archives is a research library containing collections of books, manuscripts, photographs, maps, serial publications, oral histories, and artifacts related to East Texas A&M University and Northeast Texas. Archives is located on the fourth floor of the Velma K. Waters Library.
The materials housed in the department are a mix of primary and secondary resources. Some of the materials have been published and some remain unpublished. The materials are organized into four major collection units: Special Collections, University Archives, Digital Collections, and Web Archives.
Archives comprises mainly primary source materials on Northeast Texas history; among the collections are the personal papers of State Senators A.M. Aikin and Peyton McKnight, U.S. Representative Ray Roberts, Ambassador Fletcher Warren, aviatrix Jeana Yeager, jazz stars Louise Tobin and Peanuts Hucko, country music star Ruby Allmond, and many other prominent men and women. Our holdings also contain all permanent records, photographs, and historical artifacts documenting the history of East Texas A&M University. The Web Archive is an online archive of East Texas A&M University websites, news sites, and social media pages.
