Audio Quality
Poor quality audio-Excessive background noise/hiss; dialog not distinguishable
Fair quality audio-Still may have significant background noise/hiss; more dialog can be understood
Good quality audio-May have a slight amount of background noise and hiss; dialog can be completely understood
Excellent quality audio-Very clean audio; No significant background noise or hiss
If you are capturing audio from an analog source, and experiencing poor audio, we recommend taking the following steps:
- Go to Control Panel on your PC and click Sound;
- When the Sound window pops up, click the Recording tab;
- Double-Click the Microphone tab
- Click the Levels tab;
- The microphone will likely be set to 100 by default unless the user has already changed it;
- Adjust the microphone level and do a test capture;
- It may be necessary to experiment to find an appropriate mic level for given audio;
We experienced a dramatic improvement in the quality of our captured audio after following these steps. It has even eliminated the need for post-capture processing in some cases.
