Off Campus Access with EZProxy

All currently enrolled East Texas A&M University students and employed faculty and staff can access the library's resources off campus by using EZProxy.

While some databases require registering a Username and Password for access, most of the library's databases use EZProxy to authenticate. Using EZProxy is simple, just log in with your myLeo credentials through SSO.

There are two ways you can add the EZProxy prepend if you encounter a paywall while browsing a non-library search engine -- the Bookmarklet and Link Builder.

EZProxy Bookmarklet

A bookmarklet is a utility ‘link’ that you can add to your browser’s bookmark toolbar, which contains a JavaScript command instead of a URL. They work in Chrome and Firefox, and the most recent version of Microsoft Edge. Mobile Safari works with additional setup.

The ETAMU EZProxy bookmarklet will take any text/URL in your browser’s address bar and prepend the ETAMU proxy prefix to it, redirecting you to an SSO login.

Before using:

  • Allow pop-up windows
  • Enable javascript
  • Accept necessary cookies

Get & Use the ETAMU EZProxy Bookmarklet

  1. Drag and drop the button to your browser's bookmark toolbar to create the Bookmarklet
  2. When you hit a paywall, click on the Bookmarklet

Note: The Bookmarklet will only give you access to resources that Waters Library has licensed. It will not work with every article and other research items found during a web search.

Build a Link with the EZProxy Prepend

The following form can help you construct a URL with ETAMU's EZProxy prepend.

Step 1: Paste or type original URL in the box below.

If your browser supports it, we've copied this new URL to your clipboard.

Take Note:

  • Clicking "Step 3" will open a new window to test the URL.
  • If you are off campus and not using the GlobalProtect VPN you should link to the myLeo SSO page.
  • If you are on campus, you will likely be directed straight to the resource.
