Online Resources at Waters Library

Introduction to Online Resources at Waters Library

Welcome to the Online Resources at Waters Library Research Guide!  Whether you are a student, faculty or staff member, or a visiting researcher, you will probably utilize the hundreds of thousands of online resources that are made available through the Velma K. Waters Library.

This guide provides an introduction to navigating and using Online Resources. For more in-depth information, please see some of our other Research Guides or contact a Librarian.

Getting Started

Waters Library purchases and subscribes to thousands of online titles every year. The wide range of resources includes e-books, e-journals, streaming media, e-newspapers, and many more. These materials are available to current students, faculty, and staff through the Waters Library website.

Access using the Waters Library website or a search engine:

  • We suggest starting your research by using the Waters Library OneSearch. Just click on the link of any article, e-book, or any other online resource. You may be prompted to sign in, use your MyLeo credentials (active CWID and password if you are a student) and you will be directed to your resource.
  • If you start your research by browsing online, you may hit a paywall when you find a resource. If Waters Library has the resource licensed, you can use either the bookmarklet, link builder, or a browser extension. For more information please see the "Off Campus Access" section of this research guide.

What to do if you encounter a problem with an online resource:

There are millions of resources available for your research and sometimes you may encounter a problem. Some of the most common problems are:

  • Not having a valid login
    • If you are actively employed by TAMUC or currently enrolled, contact the HelpDesk for assistance
  • Your VPN is not working
  • Broken or invalid link

For more information, please see the "Troubleshooting" section of this research guide.
