Browsing Academic Journals
Many academic journals publish scholarly works concerning LGBTQ+ topics occasionally as a part of their more general scope of topics. Others are focused specifically on publishing research and writing concerning this area of academia.
To find journals related to LGBTQ+ research and topics:
- Go to the Library Homepage. Click "Journals" below the search bar, then "Browse by Subject". This will take you to the BrowZine service.
- If you are looking for a specific journal, you can search for it by title, publisher, or ISSN. Otherwise, you can browse by clicking on the subjects listed in the sidebar, or by searching for keywords related to the topic.
This is a very broad topic that concerns multiple fields of study, and many academic journals will approach just one aspect of it. For example, journals concerned with transgender healthcare are looking at these topics from a medical lens, whereas a journal focused on the history of the Gay Rights Movement might have a historical or legal perspective. Other journals take a more generalist approach and publish works across multiple disciplines. If you can't find what you're looking for in one subject, try exploring other angles to the same research area.
If you find a journal that you like and want to follow, click "+Add to My Bookshelf" while looking at that journal's page in Browzine. You will receive a notification when that journal releases a new issue.
To look for high impact journals, sort your search results by Journal Rank.
