Essential Tools and Techniques for Scholarly Writing

How to Find Scholarly Peer-reviewed Articles

Begin your research by exploring the Library's collection through OneSearch. Enter your keywords or subject terms or keywords into the search box and click "Search." Once the results page appears, use the filters on the left side of the page to refine your search. Select options such as "Available online," "Peer-reviewed Journals," and "Articles," then click "Apply." To further narrow your results, explore the "Subject" filter, and choose subtopics that are relevant to your research.

Additionally, you can visit the Library's A-Z Databases page. From here, you can either explore databases specific to your subject area or start with multidisciplinary databases that cover a wide range of topics. Below are three examples of multidisciplinary databases:

How to Find Scholarly Journals

To locate scholarly journals, start at the Library homepage. Click on the "Journals" tab, then select "Browse Journals by Subject." This will take you to the BrowZine Library, where you can search for journals by subject, title, or ISSN.

How to Find Books & E-Books

To locate books and e-books, start at the Library homepage. Click on the "Advanced Search" tab located under the OneSearch box. When the Advanced Search page opens, select "Books and e-Books" at the top of the white box and choose "Books" from the "Resource Type" drop-down menu. Enter the book's title, keywords, or ISBN into the search box, and click "Search".
